Swerving Journals

Feb 08 – Apr 09

After launching Backroads & Highways, Swerving Gently took to the road, playing their way from Calgary to the West Coast of Vancouver Island reaching audiences from festival stages to lively pubs, café’s and pindrop theatres.

Although they’ve never heard themselves on the radio, they have received airplay on CBC, CJSW and EZ Rock Radio amongst others, and with their current repertoire consisting of over twenty new songs, plans for their second album to be recorded in 2009 are well underway.

August 07 – Jan 08

In August 2007 John Jenkins received a grant through the C.S.R.A. (Canadian Society for Recording Arts) with funds provided by NewCap Radio and the dream of recording was alive. Rehearsals were already under way, with John Jenkins on guitar, vocals and harmonica, Dan Jenkins on bass and Don Stenner on drums and on October 23rd the trio moved into Big Reel Studio in Parson, B.C. The stage was set for a raw roots album to be recorded live off the floor to 16 track analog, and five days later 12 songs were captured on tape. After completing the mix the DAT tapes were left with Richard Harrow at Canada Disc in Calgary for mastering and on January 23rd, 2008 the project was complete.
